Fort Bend's premiere Master-Planned Community by
Johnson Development, is home to the American Society
of Interior Designers (ASID) Showcase home for 2011.
The project, An ASID House Designing with the Stars,
selected Sienna Plantation's exclusive The Sanctuary
at Water's Lake, a gated community featuring only 12
home sites on one-half to half-acre properties. "We
are thrilled to be selected as the site for the ASID
House Designing with the Stars project," said Susie
Goff, Marketing Director for Sienna Plantation.
"Having this type of project in our community is a
privilege. It gives us the opportunity to showcase
the quality lifestyle we have created in Sienna
Plantation, along with a spectacular showcase home."
The 5,944 square foot home is being built by Regan
Custom Homes, a custom homebuilder who has built in
the greater Houston area for over 15 years. "We were
excited to participate in an ASID project," said
Shawn Regan, CEO of Regan Custom Homes. "The
extraordinary quality of ASID's showcase houses are
well-known to both home buyers and the custom
homebuilding industry. This project provided Regan
Custom Homes with a unique to opportunity to exhibit
our excellence and abilities in custom homebuilding,
and we are thrilled to be a part of it."
Scheduled for completion in April of 2011, the house
is being decorated by professional ASID interiors
designers – twenty, in fact. According to Sharon
Staley, ASID President, ASID recruited the designers
to participate on the design team based on their
ability to complete the project along with what they
could give back to ASID. The house has been divided
into twenty areas and each designer has been
designated an area to showcase their talents.
"There's a lot of egos at stake on a showcase home
all trying to make sure that their design is
executed to the best of their ability and to show
what a trained designer can do with the proper tools
and opportunity," said Staley.
The house will feature state-of-the-art design
features and technology including a custom lighting
system by Lutron. Lutron began over 50 years ago
with a life-changing invention: the dimmer switch.
Today, Lutron builds a system based on a radio
controlled master system that can do everything from
turn on your lights and ceiling fans to opening and
closing your blinds. And, best of all, the Designing
with the Stars ASID Showcase Home will feature a
state-of-the-art Lutron system – the newest element
in home safety.
Plans for the ASID House Designing with the Stars
are continually developing with the homebuilder and
designers working hand in hand. Substantial changes
have already been made by the team including
reconfiguring the kitchen, converting attic space
for a home theatre and providing direct door entry
access to the attic. A big change to the design was
to make the house ADA (American Disabilities Act)
compliant to provide the homeowner with options for
an elderly family member, a small child or an
individual with special needs.
